Illustrated cover of Thimblewick Lane: a hedgehog holding a golden thimble, a badger reading in a boot, two little wrens and a toad lighting a lamp, all beneath a giant leaf at dusk.

Welcome to Thimblewick Lane

At the very bottom of a big green garden, under the biggest leaf of an old, tall plant, there is a little lane of tiny shops. A hedgehog runs the button shop. Two wrens bake bread inside a teacup. A badger keeps a library in an old boot. And every evening, a kind old toad lights the lamps.

These are gentle animal bedtime stories for children aged 3 to 7, written to be read aloud by a grown-up. Each one takes about ten minutes, has a tiny problem that kindness can fix, and ends with Lighting the Lamps, a slow breathing wind-down to help little ones drift off.
