This policy explains, in plain words, what information this website collects and how it’s used. We’ve tried to keep it short, because we collect very little.
Who we are
Thimblewick Lane (thimblewicklane.com) is a small, independent website of bedtime stories. For this website, we are the “data controller” under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). You can contact us about privacy at any time using the details on our Contact page.
What we collect
You can read every story without giving us any personal information. There are no accounts, no comments, no newsletter sign-up and no adverts.
If you email us
If you email us, we’ll receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use this only to read and reply to your message. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering messages people send us. We won’t share your details or add you to any mailing list, and we’ll delete your message when we no longer need it, usually within 12 months.
Please don’t send us photos of children, or your child’s full name.
Visit counts
We use Koko Analytics, a privacy-friendly tool that runs on our own website, to count how many times each page is read. It is set up not to use cookies, it doesn’t collect names or email addresses, it doesn’t store IP addresses, and the data isn’t shared with anyone else. We use it only to see which stories people enjoy.
Cookies
We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don’t use any cookies for visitors. If you only read the stories, no cookies are set. (The website software does set cookies for the site owner when they log in to manage the site.)
Hosting
The website is hosted by Hostinger. Like all web hosts, their servers automatically record basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to keep the website running and secure, and is kept only for a short time.
Children
These stories are for children, but this website is meant to be used by grown-ups. We don’t knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you think a child has sent us personal information, please let us know and we’ll delete it.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it or delete it, and to object to how we use it. To do any of these, just contact us. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use information, for example when the podcast launches, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
